Pet Sketches

Getting a Pet Sketch done of your doggo, catto or even Barry the Bearded Dragon, makes a perfect personalised gift for yourself or a loved one!

Each Pet Sketch is lovingly drawn digitally in a single-colour pencil style by hand, using a Wacom drawing tablet. This allows you to easily request a custom page size to fit the frame you plan to use, at no extra cost. But first, please read through the price list and guidelines below:

What makes a good reference photo?

What I need from you:

1. A high-res, crisp close up photo of your pet taken in good light.
A good rule of thumb is to make sure you can see the details and highlights in the eyes and be able to see individual hairs. A great photo translates into a great pet sketch!

2. Your pet’s name (if you would like it included)

3. Artwork size preference.
The default size is an A4 (210 x 297mm) portrait orientation, although often a square of 210x210mm looks best, but finding square frames can be more of a challenge. The choice is all yours! If you have the frame with a different ratio simply send me the dimensions.

4. Upfront payment.
This can either be done as a 50% deposit or full payment upfront (full is preferred so we can skip the watermarked stage and second invoice).

How are the sketches created?
I draw in Photoshop with a Wacom drawing tablet and a pencil brush preset. Using your photo reference as the starting point to get proportions and tones, then I build the sketch up layer by layer adding more detail as I go along. The finishing touches include some white highlights, writing the name and signing the artwork.

What do you get in the end?
You will receive an email with the print-ready artwork provided as 300ppi RGB PDF and JPEG files as well as an attached guide for printing it.
If you’re in Australia, you have the option to have it printed on acid-free fine art giclée paper, signed and posted to your local address.
